How Green Is Your EV?

Your EV is only as clean as your utility… or so we are told. A Forbes.com article presented comparisons of what it cost to operate AND a green score for popular EVs in five major US cities; Los Angeles, Portland, ME, Baltimore, New York City and Portland, OR. What I found fascinating was a link provided to the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy‘s Regional Calculator. Download the calculator here.

Either way, EVs are cleaner than ICE. Don’t let anyone tell you differently.

How Much Does It Cost To Operate An EV

This is one of the basic questions on the mind of every EV curious person. Although there’s several ways to answer, the typical answer is 1/3 to 1/2 of the cost of operating an ICE vehicle. I found some info on Energy.gov showing the comparison of gasoline to to the electricity equivalent. Here is the link.

Dingell’s Got A Plan Part 2: Tell Me What You Want, What You Really, Really Want

Dingell’s Got A Plan Part 1: Bribe Me

The Distinguished Lady from Michigan, Debbie Dingell has proposed a bit of legislation to help EV adoption. On one hand, I’m glad that we are still pushing for EV adoption, but I’m unsure about the language of the bill. I’ve only read the press release and it seems like a decent idea, but it could just be a political bargaining chip nightmare.

GM Confounds Me Yet Again

How can you promote EVs and diesels at the same time? I’m not sure but General Motors is trying to do so. They have focus on both sides of the spectrum trying to please everyone. Pick a direction and stop hedging your bets. Tesla PROVES that Americans want an EV solution, but the “Heartbeat of America” needs an AED and to get their head on straight.
